Well with pre-season well under way both coaches, football and netball, should be happy. Both Darren "Doggy" Ryan and Judy appear to have settled into thier roles this year and the players have certainly responded. The feeling around the club at the moment is one of excitement as expectations of a marked improvement over last season grow each week.
While everything at the moment on the field and at an administration level is on track, one area we are severely lacking in is training staff. The football and netball department urgently requires trainers to oversee player health concerns. If you have a level 1 sports trainers certificate and would like to assist then please see one of the committee.
Also vacant is the position of time keeper. No experience is required for this position as on the job training will be provided. Again if you can help out in this area please see one of our committee people.
At our last committee meeting, the committee overwhelmingly voted to support the adoption of a womens football team. The team will be made up of girls to old for the Youth League and will become part of our North Geelong family. This is a very exciting change for our club and one which will benefit both the club and the girls whose passion for aussie rules is equal to that of our boys. The girls will play at home on the Keith Barclay Oval every second Sunday and will play in the traditional North Geelong colours. It is the committees hope that all of our members and supporters alike show their support for the girls and welcome them into our club the same way we welcomed the netballers when they first arrived. More info will be posted as it comes to hand.
